Bertha Jean Foster

1936-2019

Bertha Jean Foster
Peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on November 18, 2019, Mrs. Bertha Jean (McDonald) Foster, wife of the late Eastman E. Foster of Blacks Harbour NB. Born in Scotch Settlement NB on February 15, 1936, she was a daughter of the late William and Myrtle (Parker) McDonald. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and sister, Bertha is survived by one son: Dr. Gary Foster of Kitchener ON; one grandson: Christopher Foster (Sharon) of Fort McMurray AB; two great-granddaughters: Jamie Foster (Ryan Buchanan) and Nicole Foster; one great-great-grandson: Kyler Buchanan; one brother: Roy McDonald; sisters: Lillian Guiggey, Betty Porter, Frances Merrill, June Yerxa (Phillip) and Caroline Lively (Patrick); many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, Bertha was predeceased by one son: Maynard Foster; one brother: Herman McDonald.

Prior to retirement, Bertha worked for Connors Brothers in Blacks Harbour. In her spare time she enjoyed traveling and eating with her friends at the Birch Grove. She was a longtime member of the Blacks Harbour Wesleyan Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher and kept active with many church functions.

The family would like to thank Bertha's church family, especially Nancy Card for their love and companionship. Also to Bertha's home care workers, the staff at both Passamaquoddy Lodge and Fundy Nursing Home and to the Eastern Charlotte Extra Mural Nurses, thank you so much for all your love and compassion shown to Bertha. We are truly grateful for all you have done.

Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. Resting at the Blacks Harbour Wesleyan Church, Blacks Harbour NB with visiting on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. The service will be held from the church on Thursday at 1:00 pm with Rev. Harry Wilson officiating followed by the interment in the Pennfield Rural Cemetery. In Bertha's memory, donations to the Blacks Harbour Wesleyan Church would be appreciated by the family.
