Brenda Carolyn Johnston

1942-2019

Brenda Carolyn Johnston
The passing of Brenda Carolyn Johnston, wife of Reece Johnston of L'Etete NB occurred peacefully at her residence on May 20, 2019. Born in L'Etete NB on February 19, 1942, she was a daughter of the late Horace Oscar Hooper and Maxine Ellison (Leslie) Gillespie. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, in addition to her loving husband Reece, Brenda is survived by her daughters: Heather Johnston and Annette Johnston both of L'Etete NB; grandsons: Brandon Thompson and Jordan Thompson; one great-grandson: Ezra Legacy; siblings: Gary Hooper (Muriel) of Uxbridge ON and Linda Tucker (Ted) of L'Etete NB; one half brother: Grant Hooper of Back Bay NB; one half sister: Hope Hooper of Fredericton NB; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, Brenda was predeceased by her stepfather: Charles N. Gillespie; one brother: David Gillespie.

Brenda was a selfless soul who took great pleasure in taking care of others. She enjoyed being a stay at home mom until her daughters were old enough and then she took on a career in mostly the retail sector, including with Eaton's and Sears when the family lived in Ontario. While in Ontario, Brenda kept active in her community. She often attended her daughters baseball games and was always keeping busy with some sort of activity. She enjoyed traveling with Reece and they took many winter vacations to Florida. Upon returning to New Brunswick to help care for her family, Brenda enjoyed cooking, tending her garden and keeping her family in line. She always put family first and was a hard worker up until the end. A true matriarch, her love, guidance and friendship will be truly missed by her family.
