Doris Mae Melnyk
It is with sadness that the family announces the death of Doris Mae Melnyk (Simpson), age 87, wife of the late Maurice Melnyk of L'Etete, NB, on Wednesday, May 8th, 2019, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Mascarene, NB, on February 10, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Percy and Grace (Teare) Simpson.

She was predeceased by her son: Gerald Melnyk; brother: Daniel Simpson; and niece: Jacalyn Hulsman (Hatt).

Doris is survived by one sister: Jean Henry (Stuart) of St. Stephen; her brother-in-law: Eddie Melnyk (Carmen); nieces and nephews: Chris Hatt, Debbie Simspon-Walker, Stephen Hatt, Mikki Hatt, Anne Small, Gary Melnyk and Paul Melnyk; many grand nieces and nephews.

Doris became a teacher, starting her career in this area before moving to Sackville, NB, Rouyn-Noranda, QC and St. Bruno, QC. She retired after 33 years of teaching and she and her husband spent winters in Florida and loved to entertain family and friends in both their homes. Five years ago she returned to her childhood home of L'Etete where she welcomed many visitors and enjoyed family gatherings along with views of Passamaquoddy Bay. She continued to enjoy her worldwide travels to the UK, South Africa and Australia.

Her family wishes to express gratitude to Dr. Andre le Roux and the staff of the Saint John Regional Hospital Neurological Unit for their exceptional dedicated and compassionate care.

Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. At Doris' request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Those wishing to make donations can make them to the Canadian Cancer Society, the NB Heart & Stroke Foundation or to a charity of their choice.
