Lois "Bernadine" Lewis
The passing of Lois "Bernadine" Lewis, wife of the late Gordon G. Lewis of L'Etete NB occurred at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB on November 3, 2018. Born in L'Etete on March 19, 1923, she was a daughter of the late James and Helen (McLeese) MacNichol. A loving mother, sister, aunt and friend, Bernadine is survived by her daughter: Nancy-Lee Lewis of L'Etete NB; one sister: Gladys Dobb of Mississauga ON; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her siblings: Albion MacNichol, Alexander MacNichol, Mildred Lewis, Meretta Cooke, Muriel MacDonald, Florence MacNichol and Sadie MacNichol.

Bernadine was a hardworking woman of God. She attended Bible School from 1943-1946 in Newcastle. From there she moved to Ontario and worked for Campbell's Soup and Admiral for a number of years. After meeting and marrying her husband Gordon, they moved back east and Bernadine worked at the South Bay School. The family finally settled in L'Etete in 1984 and Bernadine retired as a homemaker. She was very social and loved to meet and make new friends. She had a heart of gold and enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family and friends. In her later years, she liked crocheting and doing puzzles. An avid animal lover, she enjoyed the company of her four legged friends, especially her dog Patches. Bernadine was a longtime member of the Sea View Full Gospel Church in Back Bay.

Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. There will be no visiting. A graveside service will be held at the MacNichol Family Cemetery, 54 Green's Point Road, L'Etete NB on Tuesday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Randy Croizer officiating. Immediately following the service, a reception will be held at the Sea View Full Gospel Church Hall, Back Bay NB. In Bernadine's memory, donations to the Alzheimer's Society or to Sea View Full Gospel Church would be appreciated by the family.
