Florence "Olive" Hatt
Peacefully at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB on October 21, 2018, Florence "Olive" Hatt, wife of the late Clyde N. Hatt of L'Etang NB. Born in Kingston Peninsula NB on September 15, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Percy and Maud "Beryl" (Seelye) Northrup. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Olive is survived by one son: Braden Hatt of St. George NB; daughter-in-laws: Louise Hatt of Fredericton NB and Eileen Hatt of L'Etang NB; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother: Stuart (Beatrice) Northrup of Oak Bay NB; three half sisters: Joy Townsend and Helen McKinnon both of Kingston NB and Cathy Northrup of Ontario; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband and parents, Olive was predeceased by three sons: Clynel, Geoffrey and Barry; one brother: Lawrence Seelye-Northrup; a baby sister: Ruth Anne.

Prior to retirement, Olive spent over 50 years as a teacher, beginning her career in St. George at the age of 17 she then moved to Etobicoke ON from where she retired in 1992. She was an avid reader who enjoyed doing her daily crossword puzzles in the Telegraph Journal and bird watching. She was a sports fan who loved her Toronto Blue Jays and Maple Leafs. Olive was a member of the St. George Seniors and looked forward to bowling every week with her league. Olive was a social person and was known as a peacemaker among her family and friends. She loved nothing more than to be surrounded by those she loved, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a long time member of the St. Mark's Anglican Church in St. George NB and will be missed greatly in the community.

Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. Visiting will take place at St. Mark's Anglican Church, St. George NB on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The service will be held at the church on Thursday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Mary Ann Langmaid officiating followed by the interment at the St. George Rural Cemetery. In Olive's memory, donations to a charity of the donor's choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
