Born in St. Stephen NB on June 16, 1939, she was a daughter of the late James and Helen (McLeese) MacNichol. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Muriel is survived by her children: Allan (Susan) MacDonald of St. George NB, David MacDonald of Oak Bay NB, Claralyn MacDonald of Oak Bay NB and a boy close to our hearts, Mark Hannington of Mississauga ON; grandchildren: Bryan (Laura) MacDonald of Saint John NB and Vicki (Craig) Sabean of St. George NB; great-grandchildren: Meghan, Hannah, Keeghan, Landon, Jada and Alexis; sisters: Bernadine Lewis of L'Etete NB and Gladys Dobb of Mississauga ON; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, Muriel was predeceased by her siblings: Albion MacNichol, Alexander MacNichol, Mildred Lewis and Meretta Cooke.

Prior to retirement, Muriel worked as a kind and loving home maker. In her younger years she was employed at the orphanage in Saint John NB, later moving to Toronto, Ontario where she married the love of her life, Manford MacDonald. In 1979 she and her family moved back to New Brunswick. Muriel was a woman of God and faithful member of the Pentecostal Lighthouse Church in Blacks Harbour NB where she was a Board Member and Secretary. She loved God and served Him not only in her personal walk but also in service as a Sunday School Teacher, Children's Church leader, and in Ladies' Ministries. She taught in a local Christian School and in recent years assisted in nurturing her great grandchildren in home schooling. She loved her family and enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed listening to Country Gospel and doing her word search puzzles. Her tablet kept her in touch with many friend and family around the world.
