Florine Catherine Russell

The passing of Florine Catherine (Caissie) Russell of Blacks Harbour NB occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on July 8, 2018 with her family by her side. Born in Rogersville NB on December 15, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Alphonse and Leona (Doiron) Caissie. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Florine is survived by her children: Laurie Russell (Melissa Haley), John (Michelle) Russell, Yvon Russell (Penny Tubbs) and Leona "Nona" Russell all of Blacks Harbour NB; one grandson: Russell Young (Victoria Malloch); step-grandchildren: Peter, Timmy, Erica, Serena, Roman, Chris and Wendy; great-granddaughter: Scarlett Young; step-great-grandchildren: Sophia, Chloe, Ryder and Jack; step-sister: Mary Lou Campbell of Fredericton NB; sister-in-law: Mabel Caissie of Harvey Station NB; the father of her children: Roger Russell; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Florine was predeceased by her children: Joseph Russell and Brenda Russell; siblings: Gerard, Alphonsine and Edmond; and son-in-law: Donald Young.

Prior to retirement, Florine worked at Connors Brothers in Blacks Harbour for many years. She loved music and could often be found playing her guitar. Florine was an avid reader who enjoyed to be outside in her garden tending to the flowers. She enjoyed playing Bingo and loved her feline companion, Memaw. Her love for her family will be sadly missed.

Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. Resting at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from the Stella Maris Catholic Church on Thursday at 11:00 am followed by the interment in the parish cemetery. In Florine's memory, donations to NB Heart & Stroke Foundation, the Alzheimer's Society or to a charity of the donor's choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
