Frederick "Fred" James McVicar
In his 68th year on earth, the family of Frederick "Fred" James McVicar are saddened to announce his sudden passing at his residence in Blacks Harbour NB on Wednesday, June 20, 2018. Born in Blacks Harbour NB on October 11, 1950, he was a son of the late Arthur and Beatrice (MacVicar) McVicar. A loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, nephew and friend, Fred is survived by one daughter: Shyanne McVicar-Carrier (Chris Wong) of Pennfield NB; one son: Fred McVicar Jr. (Karisa Allen) of Blacks Harbour NB; three grandchildren: Brody Carrier, Ryanne Allen and Harleigh McVicar; one brother: Hugh McVicar of Tryon NB; six sisters: Patti McVicar of L'Etang NB, Geri Johnston of Utopia NB, Debbie Cormier (Peter) of Blacks Harbour NB, Mary McVicar of L'Etang NB, Jacqueline McVicar-Ferguson (Russell) of St. George NB and Bessie McVicar of L'Etang NB; sister-in-law: Beth McVicar of Cooper ME; uncles: Bruce MacVicar of Middleton NS and Clayton McVicar (Agnes) of St. George NB; aunts: Rosiland McVicar of PEI, Jeanne McVicar and Reta McVicar both of St. George NB; special cherished friend: Bernice Vautour of Blacks Harbour NB; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Fred was predeceased by his son: Jody McVicar; brother: David McVicar; sister: Cindy McVicar; and brother-in-law: Raymond Johnston.

Fred was born in Blacks Harbour NB and raised in L'Etang NB. He was schooled in many trades and worked as a welder, mechanic, tile layer/installer and had many other jobs throughout his life. He loved to sit around with his family and friends, sharing tales and laughing about many of his or their great adventures. Either way, he loved to entertain or be entertained. Fred is now at rest but he will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. Resting at the funeral home with visiting on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from the St. George's Catholic Church on Saturday at 1:00 pm with Father Rolando Suplido officiating, followed by the interment in the parish cemetery. In Fred's memory, donations to the Charlotte County SPCA or to the St. George's Catholic Church Building Fund would be greatly appreciated by the family.
