Sally J. Nabuurs

1954-2018

Sally J. Nabuurs
It is with heavy hearts the family of Sally J Nabuurs (nee Hawkins) wife of Anthony (Tony) Nabuurs announces her peaceful passing surrounded by her family on June 3rd, 2018 at her residence in Beaver Harbour, NB. She was born in Blacks Harbour, NB on October 29th, 1954 to the late Floyd and Kathleen (nee Flagg) Hawkins. Besides her beloved husband of 41 years she is survived by joys of her life, her son Zachary (Jody) Nabuurs and her daughter Stephanie (Sean) Herron and her most precious grand children Madison, Matthew and Mackenzie Herron and grand doggy Franklin. She is also survived by her siblings Ruby (Bill) Scott, Coralie (George) Losier and Colin; Sister-In-Law Darlene Hawkins; Uncle Jimmy (Florence) Hawkins; and many nieces, nephews, cousins. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her brothers Derwyn, Kevin, Danny and Rodney.

Sally greeted everyone with her beautiful smile and always was interested in how you were doing as a person. When she was talking to you she made you feel like the most important and interesting person in the world. She was devoted to her family. She was always there for her children having time for them, listening to them, making their lives fun. During her whole life right to the end it was in her nature to always think of the other person not herself. Whether it was moving to where her husband worked, looking out for her siblings or her coworkers, volunteering with Brownies, figure skating, school lunch, soup kitchen, Sunday school, home and school, heart and stroke, committee for new school for New Maryland, or “finding” an extra school bus for an overcrowded bus route she was always giving of herself to others. She would take the last twenty dollar bill out of her pocket and go without to feed a person on the street who was down and out of luck.

Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. As per Sally’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation will take place. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Saint John Regional Hospital Oncology or to a charity of your choice.
