Roy Daniel "Danny" Bertaux

Danny fought his battle with cancer until April 30th, 2018 with his family by his side, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB. From the first moment, good or bad, he wanted all the glory to go to God. Born in Digby NS on April 5, 1977, he was the son of Cynthia (Dunn) Darke and Roy Bertaux.

Loving husband to Karen Bertaux of Back Bay NB, father to Mackenzie Hansen of Woodland ME and Miranda Oakes of Calais ME, papa to Barrett Nicholas, his mother: Cynthia (Allison) Darke of Deer Island NB; his father: Roy (Lori) Bertaux of Clementsport NS; one sister: Heidi (Dwayne) Ward of Birch Ridge NB and their children, Bohdan, Skyler and Jonah; step sister Tonelle Richardson and step brother: Lucas Richardson, both of Deer Island his chosen grandfather: Keith Stuart of Deer Island NB and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Danny was an active member of the Pennfield Baptist Church, helping with bible study and running the sound booth. He was a proud volunteer firefighter for 23 years, having served with the departments in Cumberland Bay, Deer Island, Second Falls, Blacks Harbour and finally Fundy Bay where he rose to the rank of Captain. He worked at Keith's Building Supplies for 12 years and was a natural with customers, greeting everyone with a big smile, always going above and beyond. He loved music, especially playing his guitar. No matter what Danny was doing in life, he enjoyed nothing more than helping his fellow man. His smile, humor and loving heart will be sadly missed but always remembered by his family and many friends.

Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. Visiting will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral will be held on Friday at 2:00 pm from the Pennfield Baptist Church. In Danny's memory, donations to a charity of the donor's choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
