Brian Harold Smith

At the Saint John Regional Hospital on March 26, 2018, Brian Harold Smith passed away surrounded by family and friends. Born in Saint John NB on May 20, 1951, he was a son of the late Harold and Edythe (Buckley) Smith. A loving father, grandfather and brother, he is survived by his loved ones: Brianne Winchester of St. George NB, Joel Smith of Toronto ON, Jana (Joe) Long of Oshawa ON, Chinea Smith of Toronto ON and Paul (Tessie) Maillet of Pennfield NB; grandchildren: Colby, Zoee, Genevieve and Gabrielle; brother: Rick (Olive) Smith of Pocologan NB as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Robert Joel Smith.

Prior to retirement, Brian was a Motel & Restaurant operator for several years with Smiths of Pennfield NB. He loved adventure and was known as a rebel and a hippie at heart. He enjoyed being on the water, travelling the world and spending time with his friends. His greatest joy came from being around his children and grandchildren. He always encouraged his children to learn and experience new things, as time is short. His thirst for life will be greatly missed by those closest to him. Brian was a former community volunteer having spent several years with the Fundy Hospital Ambulance as an attendant and was also a former member of the PC Association of New Brunswick.

Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533), 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. In keeping with Brian's wishes there will be no visiting. A private service will be held at a later date. In his memory, donations to the Saint John Regional Hospital Palliative Care unit or to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
