Mildred Audrey Irwin, MBE
1920-2018
In Fredericton, Veterans Health Unit on February 20, 2018. Mildred
was born in May 13, 1920, in St. George, NB, the daughter of the late
John Oliver and Bettie Spinney.
She is survived by her sisters, Dorothea Baldwin of Lincourt Manor St. Stephen, and Bettie-Anne Boulter of Fredericton, sisters-in-law, Joan Spinney and Gaye Spinney as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
She was pre-deceased by her beloved husband of 60 years, Ferris Ray Irwin, her sister Jean Dunlap, brothers James and John Spinney, and brothers-in-law, Donald Baldwin, James H. Dunlap, and Les Boulter.
Mildred was educated in St. George, and Saint John, and was employed by the Public Service Commission in Ottawa, prior to joining the Royal Canadian Air Force, Women’s Division. She was posted to RCAF Overseas Headquarters in London, England. During her service she was appointed a Member of the British Empire (MBE).
Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. A service will take place at St. Mary’s Anglican Church, McEvoy Street in Fredericton on Friday, February 23 at 11:00 am. Burial will take place in the spring at St. George Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Salvation Army or the donor’s choice.
