Richard James McGee
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Richard James McGee. Born at Blacks Harbour NB on August 2, 1937 he was a son of the late Carroll L. and Myrtle G. (Johnson) McGee.
A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, Richard is survived by his wife of 59 years; Annette (Deveau) McGee, three daughters: Gale Harris (Eugene) of Blacks Harbour, Faith Simpson (Tim) of St. George and Monica Thurlbeck (Patrick) of Martinsville Sask., two sons: Philip McGee of Saint John and Ross McGee (Michele) of Damascus, 10 grandchildren: Amy, Kevin, Angel (John), Ashley, Haley, Matthew, Evans, Andrew, Laura and Olivia, four great grandchildren: Shyle, Wesley, Liam and Luke, one brother; James McGee of Saint John as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Richard was predeceased by a brother ; Carroll Jr., and two sisters: Jeannie McGee and June Latta (Robert).
Richard worked for 40 years with Connors Brothers as an engineer. Being surrounded by his family was what gave Richard the greatest joy. He served on the Blacks Harbour Village Council for several years as well as in former years, served many capacities with Stella Maris Catholic Church. He enjoyed all sports and played many of them but was an avid baseball player and played many years with the "Brunswicks" which was a great love of his.
In keeping with Richard's wishes there will be no visiting. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday morning at 11 am from Stella Maris Catholic Church, Blacks Harbour with Father Rolando Suplido officiating followed by a reception at the church hall. The interment will be held in the Stella Maris Catholic Cemetery in the spring. In Richard's memory, donations to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of the donors choice would be appreciated by the family.
