It is with deep sadness that the family of Joan Elaine Taylor announce her passing which occurred on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Bonny River on April 24, 1931, she was a daughter of the late George and Myrtle (Kinney) Matheson. Joan being an outdoors person enjoyed many years of hunting and fishing with her children and later her grandchildren. She was known by many for her home knit socks, mittens and for the gift of quilts which she lovingly did for her family and friends afar.

Joan is survived by her daughter, Martha Humphrey of St. Stephen; sons: Vincent and Mark of Bonny River; grandchildren: Joanne and Jamie Humphrey and Vanessa and Tammara Taylor; brother Melvin Matheson (Janet) of Utopia and many nieces and nephews. Aside from her parents, Joan is predeceased by her husband, Maynard; son-in-law, Guy; brothers: Kenneth, William, James; sister, Bernice Thompson and her twin sister, Jean Campbell.

The family would like to thank Dr. Vance Anderson and his staff for being there for Joan and her family. The Extra Mural Nurses for guiding the family through her illness with care and compassion. To the home care workers it brightened her day and we were truly blessed to have you for the care and support. All of you made this journey much easier.

Resting at the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB with visitation on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The Funeral Service will take place from the funeral home chapel on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Jason Hooper officiating. The interment will be held in the Second Falls Baptist Cemetery in the spring. In Joan's memory, donations to charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
