John Allen Guthrie

1949-2018

John Allen Guthrie
The passing of John Allen Guthrie, husband of Joanne Louise (Stuart) Guthrie of Seeley's Cove NB, occurred peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on January 6, 2018. Born in Blacks Harbour NB on June 23, 1949, John was a son of the late Cecil and Audrey (Bothwick) Guthrie. A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, in addition to his wife, Joanne, John is survived by three sons: Shawn Guthrie (Shelley Sowers) of Seeley's Cove NB, Derek Guthrie (Cindy Flooks) of Seeley's Cove NB and Brandon (Melissa) Guthrie of Saint John NB; one daughter: Victoria Guthrie of Seeley's Cove NB; five grandchildren: Dawson, Hannah, Tessa, Isabella and Wyatt with one grandbaby on the way; siblings: the twins, Florence Torrey and Freda "Pete" Logan both of Quispamsis NB and Gerald (Rose) Guthrie of Seeley's Cove NB; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Prior to retirement, John worked as a mechanic for various employers. A true grease monkey and car guy, he could often be found tinkering around the garage. He had a passion for Antique Cars and was a member of the local Antique Car Club. John loved his family and spending time with them, especially his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed but forever cherished by the ones he loved.

At this time the family would like to thank the Eastern Charlotte Extra Mural Nurses, especially Karen and Pia. Your exceptional care and compassion shown not only to John, but to our family as a whole, will always be remembered with love and gratitude. To our many friends, devoted family and to everyone who has helped out in anyway, your love and support has never gone unnoticed.

Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. While there will be no formal funeral service the family invites friends and family to visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.
