Joseph "Peter" Savoy

Unexpectedly at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on August 15, 2017, Joseph "Peter" Savoy of Blacks Harbour NB. Born in Beaver Brook Station NB on June 24, 1941, he was a son of the late Peter and Suzanne " Susie" (St. Coeur) Savoy. A loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle, Peter is survived by his children: P. Wayne Savoy of Moncton NB, A. Rose Clarke (David) of Cornwall PE, S. Peggy Wood (Robert) of Hazelbrook PE and Patsy Belliveau (Gordon) of Waterville-Sunbury NB; nine grandchildren: Megan Savoy, Kaitlyn Dempsey (Drake), Kerrie Sharpley (Kyler), Brandon Clarke, Hollie Wood, Adam Wood, Samantha Wood, Amy Belliveau (William Campbell) and Rebecca Belliveau (Curtis Adams); great-grandchildren: Katherine, Christabelle, Scarlett, Tysen, Lilliana, Logan, Levi and Axel; four brothers: Eugene (Terry) and Alexander (Dianne) both of Blacks Harbour, Roger (Lynn) of Sussex NB and Michael (Sherri Babineau) of Pennfield NB; one sister: Agnes McVicar (Clayton) of St. George NB and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Peter was predeceased by one grandson: Christopher Savoy; a great-grandson: Rowan Belliveau; brothers: Gilbert, Raymond, Louis and Romeo; and one sister: Muriel Comeau.

Prior to retirement Peter worked as a Machinist and was employed over 20 years with Connors Bros. Limited in Blacks Harbour. In his younger days he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, 4 wheeling and boating. He was a true "Mr. Fix It" who was always working on and tinkering with automobiles. Even in his later years, Peter loved to get his hands greasy and solve any mechanical problem you placed in front of him. He loved his family greatly and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, August 18, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from the Stella Maris Catholic Church, Blacks Harbour NB on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 11:00 am with Father Rolando Suplido officiating, followed by the interment in the parish cemetery. In Peter's memory, donations to a charity of the NB Heart & Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.
