Thelma Elizabeth Hanley
Peacefully at her sons residence at Back Bay NB on April 20, 2017, Mrs. Thelma Elizabeth (McVicar) Hanley, wife of the late Whitman M. Hanley of Back Bay NB. Born at L' Etete NB on May 30, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Kirby and Hazel (Hooper) McVicar.

A loving mother, grandmother and sister, she is survived by: her sons; Owen (Kim) Hanley of St. George NB and Patrick (Debbie) Hanley of Back Bay NB, her daughter; Iris (Wayne) Matheson of St. George NB, daughter-in-law, Judy Hanley; 10 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren, brothers; Vance (Ruth) McVicar of L'Etange NB and Ross (Joanne) McVicar of Saint John NB and her sister: Iona (Arthur) Cormier of Rexton NB as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her beloved husband Whitman and her parents, she was also predeceased by her loving son Dennis Alexander Hanley and her siblings: Greta Hartford, Watson "Sonny" and Bernard McVicar.

In her early years, Thelma worked summers for Connors Brothers in Back Bay but her main job was running the household and raising her family. She loved to crochet and enjoyed her adult coloring books. She was also an avid reader. She especially loved spending time with her family and the fellowship of others .She will be sadly missed by all that knew her.

Resting at Heaven's Gate Full Gospel Church in Seeleys Cove, NB from where the service will be held on Sunday at 1:30 pm with her son in law Pastor Wayne Matheson officiating followed by internment at St. George Rural Cemetery. Visiting at the church on Saturday 2-4 and 6-8 pm. In lieu of flowers donations to the CNIB, New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of the donors choice would be appreciated by the family. The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Hameed, Kim, Sherry, Miranda, and the rest of the staff of the NB Extra Mural Program as well as her homemaker Chelsey for their kind and compassionate care which made her final days at home peaceful and comforting.
