Aubrey Roy Barry

At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB on November 29, 2016, Mr. Aubrey Roy Barry, husband of the late Ruby B. (Sparks) Barry of Beaver Harbour NB. Born in Beaver Harbour on April 14, 1918, he was a son of the late Harry and H. Faye (Ackerley) Barry. A loving father, beloved grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, he is survived by two sons: Wayne (Nancy) Barry of Ottawa ON and Brian Barry of Beaver Harbour; one daughter: Anne Lewis of New Maryland NB; seven grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one brother: Hilbert Barry of Beaver Harbour; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by one brother and two sisters.

Aubrey was a Fisherman and then joined the Royal Canadian Air Force, Marine Section, being a veteran of the Second World War. After serving with the armed forces, Aubrey then went to Ceylon (Sri Lanka) with Foreign Aid for 5 years. Upon returning to Canada he then joined the Department of Fisheries, retiring after 23 years. He was a long time member of the Beaver Harbour Baptist Church and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #39 in Blacks Harbour.

Aubrey and Ruby were married many years ago in the Beaver Harbour Lighthouse. He built their home in Beaver Harbour where they enjoyed over 71 years of marriage together. He will be fondly remembered by his great-grandcat, Sally.

Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. The funeral service will be held at the Beaver Harbour Baptist Church on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Calvin Hood and Rev. Dean Annis officiating. Interment will be held in the Pennfield Rural Cemetery. Donations to the Beaver Harbour Baptist Church or to the Charlotte County Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
