Helena Maxine Cooke

At the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on November 27, 2016, Helena Maxine Cooke, wife of the late Alfred A. Cooke of Back Bay NB went home to be with her Lord. Born in Back Bay on August 22, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Jesse and Pansy (Taylor) Cooke. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt, Helena is survived by one son: Tony (Kim) Cooke of L'Etang NB; one daughter: Tammy Green of Moncton NB; grandchildren: Tiffany Green, Alisha (Darrell) Gray and Kate Cooke; great-grandsons: Carter Newbury, Brady Green, Tanner Harris, Bryce Green and Dawson Gray; one step-grandson: Logan Gray; and by many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, Helena was predeceased by her grandson: Tony Green; brothers: Kingston Cooke, Donald Cooke, Walter Cooke, Reid Cooke, Guilford Cooke, Eldon Cooke and Blois Cooke; and sisters: Beulah Mitchell and Thelma Cooke. Helena was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Prior to her retirement, Helena worked for many years as a Packer for Connor's Bros. in Back Bay. Strong in her faith, she was a long time member of the Sea View Full Gospel Church in Back Bay where she loved attending services. Helena enjoyed being on the go and was often driving her friends around or helping those who needed a lift to appointments or just to get groceries. She enjoyed eating at local restaurants and could often be heard laughing and joking with those in her company. Family meant the world to Helena and the love she showed for her family and friends will always be cherished.

Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. Visitation will be held at the Sea View Full Gospel Church, Back Bay NB on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The service will take place from the church on Tuesday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Gordon Cooke officiating, followed by the interment in the St. George Rural Cemetery. In Helena's memory, donations to the Diabetes Association or to the NB Heart & Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.
