James "Jimmy" Melvin Oliver
Peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on September 11, 2016, with his family by his side, Mr. James Melvin Oliver, husband of the late Rosie Marie (Frost) Oliver of Second Falls NB. Born in Bethel NB on January 17, 1930, he was a son of the late Andrew and Eva (Fisher) Oliver. A loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather and brother, Jimmy is survived by two sons: John (Kim) Oliver of Breadalbane NB and J. Andrew (Wanda) Oliver of Harvey NB; two daughters: Marilyn (Dean) MacEwen of New London PE and Margaret (Eric) Banks of Second Falls NB; grandchildren: Steven Banks, Angelia (Danny) Steen, Tina Sherwood (Shaun), Aaron (Margo) Banks, Richard (Heather) MacEwen, James (Crystal) MacEwen, Jennifer (Graham) Morehouse, Natashia (Derek) Morrow, John Jr. (Cheryl) Oliver, Jesse (Denise) Oliver and Julia Oliver; 15 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; special friend: Betty Marshall of St. George NB; one sister: Joyce Stuart of Richardson NB; sister-in-law: Elsie Oliver of Blacks Harbour NB; brothers-in-law: Jack (Pauline) Frost of Second Falls NB, Louis (Josephine) Frost of Canal NB and Kenny Gowan of Digdeguash NB and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his loving wife, Rosie, Jimmy was predeceased by brothers: Boyd and Gary; sisters: Myrtle, Sheila and Mae.

Prior to retirement Jimmy worked as a School Bus Driver for the local district. He truly loved his job and many children grew to love Jimmy like a grandfather. He was a well crafted carpenter who built many homes in the area and enjoyed keeping busy working in the woods. He was an amazing father and husband who worked many long hours to provide for his family. Truly the patriarch, his kind words and wisdom will always be cherished by his family.

Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The service will take place from the Second Falls Baptist Church, Second Falls NB on Wednesday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Reg Ward officiating followed by the interment in the church cemetery. In Jimmy's memory, donations to Charlotte County Cancer or to a charity of the donor's choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
