Mary Ellen  Nixon
The death of Mrs. Mary Ellen (Crompton) Nixon occurred on September 2, 2016 at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB. Born on June 15, 1933 in St. Stephen, NB. She was the daughter of the late Ethel (Cook) and Lawrence Crompton. She was married at St. Stephen on November 17, 1950 to the late Frank G. Nixon who preceded her on March 18, 1999. She is survived by one daughter: Margaret Dick (Dale); two sons: Larry Nixon (Karen) and Brian Nixon (Tanya); six grandchildren: Pamela Dick, Jessica Newell, Kevin, Joshua, Andrew and Zachary Nixon; two sisters: Jacqueline Fiander of Saint John and Jean Woodside of Calais; special nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mary Ellen was a secretary for 30 years for Irving Oil Ltd. and Texaco Canada. She was employed at several local jobs, retiring after several years at the Fundy High School cafeteria. She was treasurer for the St. George Recreation Council for many years as well as helping the council raise money and was involved in many of their activities. Mary Ellen a member and leader of TOPS for many years and she enjoyed doing crafts, playing bingo and camping.

Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. Resting at the St. Marks Anglican Church with visiting on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral will be held from the church on Monday at 11:00 am with Rev. Mary Ann Langmaid officiating, followed by the interment at the St. George Rural Cemetery. In Mary Ellen's memory, donations to Charlotte County Cancer or to St. Mark's Anglican Church would be appreciated by the family.
