Robert "Bob" Leslie Newell

Unexpectedly at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on July 29, 2016, Robert "Bob" Leslie Newell, husband of Doris Jean (Holland) Newell of St. George NB. Born in St. Stephen NB on May 22, 1936, he was a son of the late George and Ruby (Bethune) Newell. A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, in addition to his wife Doris, Bob is survived by one son: Philip (Mary) Newell of Oshawa ON; one daughter: Roberta (Larry) Cook of Utopia NB; two grandchildren: Allissa Cook-Gilmore (Danny) and Joseph Cook (Rebeca); great-grandchildren: Michael, Hudson, Jack, Wyatt and Nolan and by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, Bob was predeceased by sons: Todd and Leslie Newell; daughter: Wanda Newell; granddaughter: Ocean Newell siblings: Charlie Newell, Mona Breton and Barbara Moore. Bob was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

For a number of years Bob worked as a truck driver. Prior to retirement, he worked on the maintenance crew at Connor's Brothers. A well known and well loved member of the local community, Bob was known to be very social and loved to have a good laugh and enjoyed being surrounded by company, especially his family. He was a skilled carpenter who enjoyed building and keeping busy with his hands. Over the years, it truly was Bob's grandchildren and great-grandchildren that kept him so active and they with the rest of the family will sadly miss him each and every day.

Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. Visiting will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The service will take place on Monday at 2:00 pm from St. Mark's Anglican Church, St. George NB with Rev. Mary Anne Langmaid officiating, followed by the interment in the St. George Rural Cemetery. In Bob's memory, donations to the Terry Fox Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
