Eunice Marguerite Neathway

Peacefully at the residence of her daughter, Judy, in St. George NB on July 10, 2016, Mrs. Eunice Marguerite (Mahar) Neathway, wife of the late Charles Melvin Neathway, formerly of Blacks Harbour NB. Born in Utopia NB on December 26, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Cornelia (Chambers) Mahar. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, Eunice is survived by five sons: Charles (Mary) Neathway of Vavenby BC, Ronnie Neathway of Bethel NB, Jeff Neathway of Kamloops BC, David Neathway (Marilyn Hawkins) of L’Etang NB and Philip (Jeannie) Neathway of Miramachi NB; two daughters: Margaret Butler of Chatham NB and Judy (Teddy) Vail of St. George NB; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, Eunice was predeceased by one daughter: Mary Giddens; two grandchildren: David Butler and Charles Giddens Jr.; two great grandchildren: Kaylum and Jacob; and by several siblings.

Prior to retirement, Eunice worked as a packer for Connor's Brothers for over 50 years. She was a well known animal lover and could often be found feeding the deer and other various wildlife that wondered into her back yard. She enjoyed doing crosswords puzzles and jigsaw puzzles and loved to be in the company of her family. In her earlier years, she and her husband, Charles, enjoyed keeping active and were members of the Harbourview Seniors.

Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 7-9 pm. The service will take place in the funeral home chapel on Friday at 2:00 pm. In Eunice's memory, donations to the Eastern Charlotte Extra Mural Program, Charlotte County Cancer or to the Alzheimer's Society would be appreciated by the family.
