It is with great sadness the family of Donald "Donnie" Michael Dwyer, husband of Diane Holt, announce his passing, which occurred on Monday, April 18, 2016 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on March 23, 1952, Donnie was a son of Louise (Seeley) Dwyer.

Donnie graduated from Eastern Charlotte Regional School in 1970, and joined the Saint John City Police in 1972. He moved to the Blacks Harbour Police Department in 1981, where he was promoted to Chief of Police in 1987. He amalgamated to Royal Canadian Mounted Police in 1999 where he worked until retirement in 2012.

Donnie was a member of Saint John City & District Dart League and Blacks Harbour Legion Dart member for many years. He was an avid golfer, and a talented wood carver. He was always giving friends and family his wood carvings. Donnie was a caring, generous, fun loving man. He was always putting others first, helping people beyond expectation, and supporting his friends and family. He was a role model to everyone around him, setting a good example for his family and many friends. He was very family oriented and enjoyed family BBQ’s, swimming and get-togethers. He will be especially missed by his family, friends, co-workers, and his special golf buddies.

Besides his wife and mother, Donnie is survived by his son Josh Dwyer (Tracey Drummond-Murray); step children, Stephanie (Mike) Teed; John (Sara) Childs; and Christine Childs (Brad Baxter); siblings, Donna Anderson (June); Wayne Dwyer; Gary (Carla) Dwyer; Calvin (Lori) Dwyer; his uncles, Sheldon (Ruth Campbell) and Arthur (June) Seeley, his two grandsons, Jack Childs and Theodore Teed; brother in law John (Arlene) Holt; and mother in law Doreen Holt. He was predeceased by his father Donald Dwyer and grandmother Mary Seeley.

Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) with visitation on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 from 6-8 PM and Thursday, April 21, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 31 Gondola Point Rd., Rothesay, NB on Friday, April 22, 2016 at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances in memory of Donnie may be made to St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation, Salvation Army, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church Building Fund, the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice.
