Roger Dale Johnston
1952-2016
At the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB with his family by
his side, on February 5, 2016, Roger Dale Johnston, husband of Eva
(Goguen) Johnston of Utopia NB. Born in Blacks Harbour NB on August
26, 1952, he was a son of the late George and Vivian (Hatt) Johnston.
A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, in addition to his
wife Eva, he is survived by his daughter: Patty (Robbie) Steen of
Bonny River NB; sons: Trevor (Amanda) Johnston of Blacks Harbour NB
and Todd (Amanda) Johnston of Quispamsis NB; grandchildren: Dawson
Steen, Gabriel Johnston, Georgia Johnston and Samuel Johnston;
brothers: Gerald (Eileen) Johnston of Oshawa ON and Clarence Johnston
of Pennfield NB; sisters: Florence Crosby of Nova Scotia and Sharon
(Frances) Needle of St. George NB; sisters in law: Mary Johnston of
Oshawa ON, Muriel Johnston of St. Catharines ON and Hazel Johnston of
Blacks Harbour NB; and countless nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides
his parents, Roger was predeceased by 10 brothers and by one sister in
infancy.
Prior to retirement, Roger worked for Lake Utopia Paper for many years. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed being out in the woods hunting or fishing. He also enjoyed his mornings spent at Birches Restaurant having coffee with the guys. A true family man, Roger found his greatest pleasure came when he was surrounded by the love of his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of the St. George Curling Club and loved the sport and the friends he made there. Roger's warm, caring heart will be sadly missed by his loving family and many friends.
Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. Visiting at the funeral home on Tuesday from 3-5 and 7-9 pm. The service will be held from the Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Gordon Cooke officiating. In Roger's memory, donations to the Lung Association or to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
