Irene Helen Cook

Peacefully at the Fundy Nursing Home, Blacks Harbour NB on November 11, 2015, Mrs. Irene H. (Leavitt) Cook, wife of the late Manford H. Cook. Formerly of Back Bay NB, she was the daughter of the late Addison and Alice (Cook) Leavitt. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Irene is survived by her son: Sheldon (Frances) Cook of Back Bay; her granddaughter: June (Davis) Pelkey of Waweig NB; grandson: Larry Cook (Mona Francis) of Back Bay; her great-granddaughter: Brianna Cook; great-grandson: Logan Cook; special niece and friend: Madonna Stewart and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband and parents, Irene was predeceased by five brothers and four sisters. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Prior to retirement, Irene worked for 35 years for Connors Brothers. She enjoyed attending church, cooking and knitting.

Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. Resting at the funeral home on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. The service will be held from the funeral home chapel on Friday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Gordon Cooke officiating, followed by the interment at the St. George Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of the donor's choice would be greatly appreciated by the family. Due to severe family allergies, no scented products please.
