Burton James Large
1947-2009
At the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB following a work
place accident, Mr. Burton James Large, husband of Mrs. Katherine
Landry of Leonardville NB. Born in Saint John NB on September 14,
1947, he was a son of Bert Large of Truro NS and Ruth (Smith)
VanWeston of Saint John NB. A loving husband, father, grandfather and
brother, in addition to his wife Katherine, he is survived by one
daughter, LeeAnn VanWeston and her daughter Caitlyn Milberry (Scott
Sealy) of Saint John NB and by one son, Jason (Francine) Large and
their children; Cody, Sam and Shawn Large of Deer Island NB, two step
sons; Andrew (Tania) Jackson and their children; Emily, Sarah and
Jonathan Jackson of Saint John, and Cordell Jackson (Amanda Seelye)
and their children; Keeghan Jackson and Matia Seelye also of Saint
John, his father, Bert (Beatrice) Large, his mother, Ruth VanWeston,
sisters; Amanda Large (Darren Pickering), Terri (Marc) Henwood, Ann
VanWeston, May (Tom) Campbell, Velma (Billy) Davis and Eleanor (Bob)
Brown, brothers; Richard (Cheryl) VanWeston and Lee VanWeston and
several nieces, nephews and cousins. Burton was predeceased by his
step father, Joseph VanWeston and by one sister, Charlotte
Lester.
Burton was employed by Ocean Horizon’s as a site manager. He
loved being on or under the water, behind the wheel of his boat
“Two Friend Ship” or scuba diving with his dive buddies.
Prior to working at Ocean Horizon’s he was employed by General
Freight, where he was awarded the Million Mile Award for accident free
driving. He had a passion for living life and spending quality time
with his loving family. Burton was a member of the Leonardville Church
of Christ.
By Burton’s request, there will be no visitation. A memorial
service will be held at the Leonardville Church of Christ on Saturday
at 4:00 pm with Rev. Joel Bridges and Andrew Jackson officiating
followed by a celebration of his life at the Fisherman’s
Café at Lords Cove NB. In Burton’s memory, donations to
the Leonardville Church of Christ Memorial Fund, or to a charity of
the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Friends
who may have photos or stories of Burton are asked to bring them to
the celebration at the Fisherman’s Café. Arrangements in
